When I think about my Hopes and Dreams for Chipeta students, it is to have an experience at our school where they are challenged, they laugh, they are delighted and entertained. When we reflect back on what makes the elementary experience so precious in the life of a child, it is that wonderful time when our children are uninhibited in their learning. They find joy in the smallest things. Every relationship is new and special. Their teachers and their friends are crucial connections. They explore what it takes to be a good student, a good friend, a contributing citizen. This is what makes Chipeta such a unique place. We value the whole child as much as the academics; in fact, we believe that is the key to our success.
When you enter the doors of Chipeta we hope you can feel, see, and hear the difference. Yes, we are proud to be a Blue Ribbon School and the winner of the John Irwin Award of Excellence year after year. We will always challenge our students to grow and achieve their full potential. Yet, we also dedicate time each day to our relationships, work ethic, communication and interpersonal skills. We know the world our children will face as they grow will not only require, but demand these critical skills.
Chipeta is proud to be one of the few Responsive Classroom Schools in our district. The Responsive Classroom philosophy is the underpinning of our school day. We believe that by taking time to find delight, entertainment and laughter that Chipeta will be a place that our students CHOOSE to be. We start each day with a classroom Morning Meeting so all students and staff feel connected, safe and a sense of belonging.
It is our perfect blend of excellent teachers, challenging curriculum, extracurricular activities and real world experiences that we hope instills a lifelong love of learning in our students. We welcome you to Chipeta for a visit, to volunteer, or to join our community. We hope you love it here as much as we do.
